Holden (Chevy) Volt

This type of car might be a stop-gap solution for electric cars until they develop better batteries.
The wheels are driven by 2 electric motors powered by a large Lithium-ion battery (like in your laptop).
The battery is good for 60-80 km of driving.
Once the battery is nearly used, the 1.4 litre petrol engine kicks in and starts charging the battery.
With a full battery and full tank of fuel, the Volt has a range of around 500 km.
This sort of thing will become more popular as petrol becomes more expensive.
